I am pleased to welcome you to the 2020-21 school year! My name is Ms. Averil Mortimer and I am a proud H. Allen Hight Cheetah! This is my fifth year teaching fourth grade, including H. Allen Hight’s 3rd/4th combination class in 2017-18. I was proud to have received H. Allen Hight’s Teacher of the Year award during the 2018-19 school year. I am looking forward to supporting your student’s 4th grade year through distance learning and beyond!
I would like to tell you a little bit about myself both professionally and personally. I am originally from El Cerrito, CA in the East Bay Area. I graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz with a Bachelors of Science degree in Biological Sciences. Later, I earned my Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential from the University of California at Davis where I simultaneously completed student teaching in kindergarten in West Sacramento. In my spare time, I love exploring the outdoors by hiking, running, and walking. I also enjoy reading novels and playing with my two dogs.
